Tebow made a celebrity

It turns out New York is Tim Tebow's kind of town.

Less than 36 hours after accepting the Heisman Trophy, Florida's sophomore quarterback started a busy day in the Big Apple.

At 6 a.m. he was roused by UF sports information director Zack Higbee to appear on CBS's "The Early Show" at 7:30. From there, Tim Tebow joined 1996 Gator Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel at 8:30 on "Fox & Friends", and shortly after, both were guests on Fox Business.

Tim Tebow went to tape a spot for ESPN around 9:30 before returning to the hotel for a short nap.

He posed in uniform for his Heisman portrait at 11 a.m. before a noon lunch at the world famous Carnegie Deli. There, he met the owner, who asked Tim Tebow to pose for a photo that would join other celebrity photos on the wall. After that, Tim Tebow signed autographs outside.

After another nap, Tim Tebow was fitted at 4 p.m. for a tuxedo to wear at that night's black tie dinner. A half-an-hour later security escorted him to an area where he posed for photographs before the dinner at the Hilton's Grand Ballroom.

He is scheduled to return to Gainesville today.

Percy Heisman?
Shortly after Tim Tebow won the Heisman, coach Urban Meyer spoke by phone with sophomore receiver Percy Harvin.

The gist of the conversation?

Harvin would be next to win the award.

"I just kind of laughed (when he said that)," said Harvin, who potentially could get a vote from Tim Tebow. "The most important thing is getting the team (to win)."

Harvin said he was joined at his residence for the broadcast by running back Brandon James, linebacker Brandon Spikes and defensive lineman Lawrence Marsh.

"All of us jumped up and slapped each other and everything (when Tim Tebow won)," James said. "I played against Tim in high school (Tim Tebow for Ponte Vedra Beach Nease, James for archrival St. Augustine), so I grew up with him and this is great to see happen to him.

"He's such a hard worker and puts everything he has into everything."

Mullen wowed
After Monday's practice offensive coordinator Dan Mullen said he enjoyed his trip to New York for the ceremony.

"It was an unbelievable experience to be able to be a part of it," Mullen said. "It's just an awesome feeling."

Mulled added he became almost fanlike in seeing former Heisman winners like Tony Dorsett, Desmond Howard and Johnny Rodgers up close.

"So much history... it takes your breath away," Mullen said.

Mullen has been thanked and called the country's best quarterback coach by Tim Tebow all over the awards circuit this week and joked "I guess that puts pressure on me" before adding "it's an honor to coach someone like Tim."

Extra points
Punt returner James said he wasn't upset Arkansas' Felix Jones beat him out for the SEC special teams player of the year award. "Felix is a great player, and he's a senior. I have two more years," the sophomore said. ... Mullen joked that since Tim Tebow had been away recently "We'll see if I let him go with the (first-teamers). He's missed three practices." ... Mullen said freshman quarterback John Brantley has performed well with the recent extra work. "He does a great job. He's gotten more reps the past week. It's been great for him to get that experience." ... Mullen's early take on Michigan: "They're a big, physical team that's going to cause us problems up front."
