A dual threat at running back is one thing, but Florida coach Urban Meyer is expecting more than that from his team this year.
"I think it's going to be a 1-2-3 combination, maybe four,"
Meyer said. "We're real excited about that. There's some home run hitters."
Last year's starter, Kestahn Moore, along with Emmanuel Moody, Brandon James and Chris Rainey all pose a threat to defenses.
"They all (stand out),"
Meyer said. "It's kind of fun to watch right now."
With quarterback Tim Tebow and wide receiver Percy Harvin also capable of running the ball, the Gators have six legitimate options on the ground.
QB Brantley impresses: While there is no controversy regarding Florida's first-string quarterback, the backup battle is still going on.
Sophomore Cam Newton and redshirt freshman John Brantley are in contention for the spot, but Meyer said he has not made a decision yet.
Meyer did compliment Brantley's arm on Tuesday.
"I thought his last five days have been phenomenal,"
Meyer said. "All the intangibles, he's starting to very much improve on. It's a really good issue now."
Moore coming on: Though he looked out of shape and slow during spring practice, Meyer admitted that junior college transfer wide receiver Carl Moore is playing much better now, even comparing him to former Florida wideout Dallas Baker.
"You say that name with reverence around here because he was such a good player for us,"
Meyer said. "But (Moore) has shown some of the same qualities."
